Our questionnaire mainly consisted of questions which focused on people's tastes of horror films. This would help us establish themes and features of our own horror film. We started by asking for the respondent's age and gender.
We decided to not make this question a priority, which is why some respondents skipped this question. Our reasoning for this was because some people may not want to disclose personal information like this.
Most of our respondents were male. Thus far we can't really decide what this means. Maybe the male audience prefers horror films? This could mean the questionnaire might be slightly biased.
Most of our respondents watch films regularly. This is good because we'll know that the answers for the next few questions will be from people who like films, so we will have some good information to go by when we're considering what should go in our trailer.
The responses to this question confirm that the next few answers will prove invaluable to us when we're discussing the main focus of our trailer. A lot of the respondents like horror films, so they will know what they like, and what they would want to see in a horror film. This will make future processes of the trailer development a lot easier.
The three most popular sub-genres of horror are as follows:
1. Zombie
2. Suspense
3. Supernatural
This is not surprising as these are the main characteristics that popular horror films have taken in recent years (The Walking Dead, Paranormal Activity etc.). Luckily, our ideas that we have discussed so-far for our horror film fall into both the supernatural and suspense categories. This is good because it means we are already heading in the right direction.
We decided that these questions are important because the responses would help to predict what the reaction to our trailer might be. If people are generally influenced by ads, then it's safe to assume that if our trailer is good, they will see the film. However, it also means that there's a level of expectation. If our trailer does not meet those expectations, we might not get such a good reaction.
The purpose of this question was to get an idea of how many people go to the cinema, if any. If a lot of people go, then we can distribute our film to many theatres, and we can also spread the reach of the trailer to the previews that show before a film. If not so many people go to the cinema, then we might have to reconsider where we should advertise the film.
